Bits & Bobs.....

A few pics from last weekend at the cottage...

My Daturas were fabulous...I finally got to see them open up! They usually bloom when I am not there!!

I love my windchime on the Sunporch...

Fresh Hydrangeas for the kitchen porch, along with a few tomatoes form my planter...

Nice beach glass and interesting stones from the beach...

A Snail on the ceiling in the garden shed!

My Delphinium that my daughter Lissa brought me, had shrivelled, but last weekend there was an abundance of new growth! YAY!!!

Lots of pretty blooms in the garden...

And...of course...that Sunset...to die for!!

Hope you are all having a great day...

Thanks so much for your kind thoughts on my last post...much appreciated!!

It is Friday...and we are off to the cottage! Stayed home. as the rain was unbelievable yesterday...and it was sooooo humid! We figured we were better off here at home...

Hostas & Swimming...

My larger Hostas in my backyard here at home...

Are later bloomers...and their flowers are white...

I think they are magnificent...

And I think that I prefer them to the earlier blooming Mauve ones...

What do you think????

Today was our day with Miss V...as it has been for every Wednesday for a very long time...come September, that will change. She will be in JK, and not near us, like her daycare is. We have been coming to terms with this all Summer...knowing that all good things come to an end. We will have her for PD days...a few holiday days...and if she is sick...But...it breaks my heart to let her go. She is growing up so fast...I want to stop the clock for a while. I shouldn't complain...some people rarely get to see their grands...or they live clear across the country...I am very grateful for all the time we have been able to spend with her...but I SURE will miss her after the next 2 weeks.Onward and upward, eh???

I took a short movie of her today...she is actually swimming!! I know...with her Elsa vest on...but SWIMMING!!! So proud of the progress she has made this summer...We will definitely get her out for a few more swims...

Just because my White Rose of Sharon is so beautiful this year...♥️

This was our dinner last night....I made fish tacos for the FIRST time...and I must say...they were delicious!!

I used Cod filets...BBQ'D with Cajun seasoning...

Coleslaw...chopped red onion...avacado...sliced yellow peppers...chipotle...

I will def make these again...delightful and easy!!

Tonight will be spaghetti and meatballs...with some crusty bread...too darn tired to make salad!!!

Miss V is spending the night...lots of stories to be read♥️ and of course...a nice warm bath...love these times!

Hope you are all well, and enjoying the weather...we are warm again, but it sure was nice to have a break on Monday....

I think we are to get rain overnite...fine with me!!

Not sure if we are going to the cottage tomorrow or Friday...

Only time will tell...

           Enjoy your evening...

                Cheers!   :o)

Last Week Around Here......

We arrived home on Saturday afternoon, as the humidity was building again...and was going to feel like 40*c!!! We had had enough of the heat...and welcomed the thought of relaxing in the a/c here at home..

Last week I switched up Miss V's room..brought her kitchen up from the recroom...she was thrilled...and immediately got some cupcakes in the oven for me and her Papa!
I even got her to try on her sweater that I am crocheting for her...It has some gathering at the back skirt...love this..sleeves get added to the tiny cap sleeves...she said she especially liked the sleeves! hahaha! I should be finished soon....

After lunch...we went with her Papa for him to get some new glasses...she was good as gold waiting...when he decided on a frame...her and I took off to go and visit the "Joe Fresh" section!!! Love their kids clothes...and adults too!
Just before we took off...I slipped this pair on her...too funny!
She exclaimed...."I can see"...we all laughed...even the optometrist thought that was pretty funny!

Next...tried on a few hats ...this was the best one!

Took this at lunch ♥️

Miss V and I got in for a dip after returning home...

She jumped off the stairs by herself this time!!!

Getting more adventurous everytime!

The Moon was gorgeous that night...Wednesday...

We left for the cottage Thursday morning...got a lot of nice pics...the gardens are looking especially good for this time of year...

Hope you are all having a great weekend...

Hot and rainy where you are??????

We are in for a couple of days of cooler weather...and then back to the high humidity for the end of the week...

We have thrown abandon to the wind...and opened the windows! hahaha!

Enjoy your Sunday evening....

                     Cheers!  :o)

What A Sentimental Find....

Back in the '50's...I was a bridesmaid when my Mothers younger cousin got married. I was 9...it was 1959...and she gifted me this Royal Doulton figurine. I have cherished it all these years...I am not much of a Royal Doulton fan, but I do love this piece.
As I have mentioned, my son is getting married in late October, and he and Anna have asked Miss V to be their flower girl!!

When I was out and about last week...I stopped into one of my favorite thrifty shops. Nothing much caught my eye...until...I spotted her!
She was beautiful! All decked out...in a beautiful Aqua dress...with her hair neatly piled high...and a sweet basket of...gosh...do those look like Sunflowers? I knew that she had to be mine...for my Miss V of course!!

Although smaller in stature than mine...she is in excellent condition...I knew by the "JAPAN" on the bottom, that she might be worth more than the $2 I gladly paid for her!

I looked her up on the good old Internet...

Under "Josef Originals"...

She is called "March Aquamarine Birthday Girl"...not a flower girl at all...but...I still love her!

She runs anywhere from $18-$45!!!

What ever she is...she is priceless to me...

I just know that Miss V will love hearing the story of how I found her sweet figurine♥️

Hope you are all having a great day...

We had some rain...perhaps some more this evening...

Lots of beautiful clouds blowing around...and the wind is crazy!!

Still really humid out there...we tried to sit in the yard for a while...

Too sticky....

I spent the day indoors...changed up Miss V's room here...hope she likes it !!

We brought her kitchen up to her room...instead of the basement...

Although...she likes it down there! hahaha!

Dinner is fried pork chops...fresh corn on the cob...greek salad...

Hope you all have a lovely evening...

                Cheers!  :o)

The Weekend & The Scary Drive Home....

The unbearably hot weather continued last weekend...

We are definitely fortunate, that we we have so many large shade trees down at the cottage....

We could not sit on the beach deck, as the winds were too high to have the umbrellas up...

We are able to find a few wee shady spots to sit and read...have a cold drink...and enjoy the breeze...

BUT...

Man oh man...

It was hot!!

This has become a favorite spot for us...

We can still see the lake...feel the breezes...and yet feel cooler in the shade...

And....

My cute little "Shunda" makes for a cute backdrop!

These clouds rolled in from the North...which was where all the rain was happening...

We were treated to a lot of Thunder...but...no rain whatsoever!!

Even overnite, we were supposed to get rain...

NOTHING!!!

Boyfriends flag...at the end of the seawall...took a turn for the worse...one of the grommets actually ripped apart, and is lost. Leaving a huge tear in the flag...it will be gone for sure by next weekend...

Friday evening ended with a magnificent sunset...which we enjoyed from the sunporch after dinner...

Saturday once again brought the promise of some rain...this storm looked like it was across the lake in NY state...

It was even stickier and more humid on Saturday...and we figured if it rained...then it would be sticky, humid and DAMP!!! My least favorite thing is DAMP!!

We packed up the car...and headed for home...

The drive was mostly sunny, until we got to Grimsby...a small town on Lake Ontario...

It was pouring rain!!

I managed to grab a shot between wipers...hahaha!

By the time we got to the QEW {main hwy connecting Toronto and Niagara Falls}...It was dry, but the clouds were ominous!

It was like this the entire drive home...

After we got in and unpacked...

The rains came...

My garden was very grateful for the downpours...

It has not rained since Saturday, but it has continued to be muggy and humid...

We are expecting a storm system to move in over night...

A huge amount of rain is forecast...more than we have had all summer...

I think from Texas....

And it will still continue to be humid...

Oh well...I did some groceries today with my boyfriend...

Guess tomorrow will be a day to putter around inside...

I love those days....do you????

I am also getting burnt out on BBQ meals...

Tonight will be Meatloaf...zucchini...roasted potatoes with gravy!!!!

Nothing like comfort food,eh??

Hope you all had a great weekend...lots of rain and humidity where you are???

Enjoy your evening...

               Cheers!   :o)
